Oukaimeden is rapidly becoming a popular climbing destination and is considered the best bouldering spot in Morocco! This area offers a vast boulder field with an abundance of boulders across all grades. Oukaimeden the perfect location for both new climbers and those seeking specific grades. As it’s still relatively new, there are more options in the easier grades, but the potential for harder grades is still huge. The sandstone boulders provide incredible climbing experiences with plenty of friction. There’s also a strong emphasis on development, making it super easy to document first ascents, with new crags still being discovered as we speak. Oukaimeden is highly accessible, located less than a 2-hour drive from Marrakech Airport. Although it’s possible to take a taxi, hiring a car is highly recommended. Most car hire companies can meet you directly at the airport. Once you’re in Oukaimeden, it’s very easy to navigate, with just one main road leading into and through the village! Imik Simik Climbing can provide bouldering mats and recommendations on where to stay, with the most popular choice being “Mustafa’s Chalet.” The climbing is all around the village of Oukaimeden, which is located at approximately 2,700 meters. Due to the high altitude, you can climb in Oukaimeden almost year-round, but it’s worth checking the conditions beforehand. The coolest month is January, where the weather can range from 18 degrees and sunny to nearly snowing.
