Wonder the same thing, that's why I just gave it the same grade Fred gave it and the same on that is in the Rocklands guidebook.

I've seen this problem with my own eyes a few times ago, and it looks soo hard. And always in the sun

When was it downgraded? paul and daniel tried the climb years ago and were told then that it was around 8B and felt that it was extremely hard. According to Adam Ondra, who also tried it, and many other sources, Fred never gave a concrete grade to the line (http://www.blackdiamondequipment.com/en-us/journal/climb//bd-athlete-adam-ondra-wraps-up-his-trip-to-rocklands-south-africa). Many grades in the guide book are recorded much differently than the climbs were originally rated. Considering Fred did this climb more than a decade ago and as far as I know no one has talked to him about it, there is no need to debate if its been upgraded, downgraded or even what the grade is. We now just need to wait until a climber is able to get the second ascent to see what grade seems most fair.

Adam O. also comments "Oliphant's Dawn" in his Blog with the words: "Fred never rated it, just saying it could be something between 8B and 8C"..
