How to get there (low river option)
There are two parking and approach options for the Riverside Crags. The quickest is to park just before the bridge, on the right side of the road in the huge gravel parking area. This is 600 metres after the R62 Farm Stall as you are leaving Montagu in the direction of Robertson.

🚶‍♂️
Approach
From here, walk down the little peninsula and into the tall reeds alongside the river to an obvious crossing. Cross the river via a few stepping stones and go straight up the slope on the other side to gain a good path coming in from the right (the high river approach option) with lots of yellow arrows and markers. 🟡
From the yellow markings, walk along the path for a few minutes, passing beneath the long rocky ridge that comes down almost to the path. Just after this you will see a path snaking up to the right before a hollowed-out boulder with a cairn on it. At this point you can see the huge cracked slabs high up on the right. This is the crag you’re headed for. Follow the vague (but cairned), weaving path steeply up the slope the gain the base of Sector C.

🚗
How to get there (high river option)
From the suspension bridge in Montagu (on your way to Bad Kloof), take the second road left (Mount Street) and drive right to the end to where it veers sharply to the right at a wooden house on the left. Park just above the next house on the left.

🚶‍♂️
Approach
Pick up the obvious path leading up the slope. After a few minutes you will reach a split. Keep left and contour around the shoulder to eventually meet up with the low river approach. From here both approaches are the same.
