This topo collects six interesting sectors on the slopes of mount Montevaccino. All of them have South exposition and face the city of Trento.
La placca che spacca, is a small sector having routes in the 4+/5+ difficulty range. It has a large and comfortable base, shaded by the trees. Routes are well protected, climbing style is technical on smooth gray limestone. This place is good for families.
Cartoon network is a compact gray limestone wall, offering short routes of fifth and sixth grade that are perfect to improve climbing technique and gain confidence with the rock. In fact, the climbing style is mainly technical and the bolts are close to each other.
Few meters after the main wall, on the right, it is possible to find another small sector called "Sasso dei matti", with a similar climbing style.
Mescalisio features a compact grey limestone and has 16 long and nice routes with a difficulty range going from 5b to 7a. The equipment is good, the crag base is ok. The climbing style is generally technical and sustained on crimps and slopers, but if you are lucky, you will find big holes in the middle of the routes, perfect to rest a bit your forearms
Makkiodromo is the last of the sectors in this area. The wall is similar to the previous ones and offers nice technical routes on good rock. Equipment is good. The 22 routes go from 5a to 7a.
Finally, Tradpel is a trad crag that is perfect to experience in this type of climbing. All the anchors are safe and along the routes there are some slings in the handlebars. Protections must be integrated with friends and nuts. Difficulties are on the 5 ish grade, perfect for beginner alpinists.
Thanks to the South exposure of the walls, it is possible to climb also in the coldest days of the winter. The approach could be a bit long but the reward is absolutely great. The landscape over Trento city is beautiful.
