Castello di Drena is a very overhanging crag located in a beautiful canyon. The routes are mainly bouldery and powerful. The difficulties are quite high, with lines from 7a to 8b and some hard projects.
The crag is well bolted and the base comfortable.
It is possible to climb also when it is raining but, since the exposition of the crag, the humidity is often very high.
A nice creek can be reached in few meters and in the down part of the canyon there is a nice hiking trail with cool tibetan bridges.
Area 51 is a long rocky belt located in a quiet area close to Drena. Although the wall could offer a huge amount of routes, the crag has only 10 lines from 5c to 6c. The routes are spreaded within two sectors, Roswell, the largest one, and Nikola Tesla, a small grey limestone wall.
The area is quiet and nice and the equipment is good.
Area 51 is rarely frequented but has an enormous potential for new routes! Maybe it will get bigger in the near future.
Dos Pelà is a nice recent crag which was bolted to make families climbing together. The small wall has 11 short routes above the fourth grade, that are perfect for the children. The approach is easy and the crag base is comfortable. Close to the wall there is also a nice picnic area.
History:
Castello di Drena was bolted by Sauro Merighi, local climber who bolted hundreds routes in Alto Garda valley. Other routes could be bolted but the permission to do that was denied by the municipality of Dro, to respect the canyon of Sallagoni creek.
The few routes of Area 51 were equipped by Roland Galvagni.
Dos Pelà was equipped by the team of the project Outdoor Park Garda Trentino.
