The bouldering area of Alpe Devero is located at about 1650 m, right at the end of the plateau, in a typical forest of larch and fir trees. The rock is a red, orange and black serpentinite covered with lichens, sometimes with a glassy feel to the touch. The boulders are generally high or very high, mostly very crimpy on blades or very powerful on slopers. The style is incredibly various, you can encounter slabs, vertical walls, overhangs, praws, corners and roofs. The forest is the undisputed kingdom of millions of very aggressive ants, they will try to eat you alive. It is a perfect place for summer climbing, but the sun beats down hard; even the mid-seasons are great if there is no snow. Most of the boulders are untouched and there is a lot to discover. There are many projects and difficult lines waiting to be climbed.
Description
History
A few climbers have tried to develop the area, but vegetation was growing back rapidly. A bouldering meeting (zamblocco) was organized, but it was not very successful. The place is incredibly beautiful but it needs more people to keep the boulders and paths clean.

Alpe Devero
The area is access sensitive!
Alpe Devero is a classic tourist destination and can be over crowded on weekends. Parking costs around €10 per day and the boulders are only a 10-minute walk away at the end of the plateau. Alternatively, park before the paid parking area and walk another 15 minutes up a steep path. Please respect nature and do not step on the grass otherwise farmers and cows may be unhappy.
