The Gwynant Roadblock is hard to miss. Anyone travelling along the Gwynant valley that reaches the lakeside surely can't help but glance at the house-sized bloc mere yards away from the roadside. However, despite decades of climbers scrabbling around - i myself played around on this boulder during my formative late teens at the turn of the century - the problems are relatively new. With some straight up lines on the roadside face, the majority of the problems are concentrated on one steep corner, consisting of a few pure lines and a series of link ups; most of which are fairly hard.
However, the Roadblock isn't the only climbing here, with the excellent Sightseer 6c+ and Soothsayer 7b well worth the short scrabble through the woods. Situated along a small brook, the setting couldn't be much different to the Roadblock and while there isn't exactly an abundance of climbing on either bloc, both are worth a visit for anyone who has begun to exhaust the more obvious crags of North Wales.
