Harjaskorpi is a crag that consists of 4 boulders, each with their own characteristics. The boulders on Harjavanmäki -hill (Hurmaajakivi, Lowball-Wall & Kapinakivi) are of a superb quality rock with really nice holds. Harjaskorpi on the other hand is a nice block of really good quality red granite.
Hurmaajakivi, Lowball-Wall & Kapinakivi lie on top of a high hill that's been harvested a while ago. So the boulders dry very quickly after the rains. They are perfect choice for an early spring or late autumn sessions. In the early spring the small road to the parking might be snowy though, making the approach to the boulders rather long and heavy. This applies to Harjaskorpi -boulder as well. The view over Iittala from Hurmaajakivi/Kapinakivi is spectacular, as the boulders are on top of a harvested high hill.
Harjaskorpi -boulder is in a partially harvested forest, and it also dries relatively quickly. The approach to the boulder is not the nicest by any means, but if you're into climbing 6's, Taikakannu -problem it self makes it worth the hike. And there is one really hard project waiting for those willing to climb really hard stuff!
Please pay extra attention on brushing chalc off of the holds here, and do not try to dry the holds with chalk! If holds are wet, use a rug, and give the finishing touch with chalc if needed. Better even is moving on to another route if holds are wet. The rock type is such that the holds can be ruined with excessive chalk use!
The landings are mostly good, but if you're after Massahurmaaja, it is recommended to bring at least 3 good pads with you, the more the better.
