Description

Kammeregg is a sandstone bouldering area comprised of several more or less large walls and a few blocks. In the main area the rock quality is every good - solid and grippy, but never sharp. Some of the boulders developed later a short walk from the main area are on less solid, more "sandy" rock, but nevertheless a nice change from the sharp pebbles of the nearby Rottachberg.

The area is centered around the big, steep wall over to the hiking path from the parking. The little roof on the right side offers some of the best bouldering in the region. Most problems have defined top holds, but can also be topped out (very highball, often green).
Below it lies another wall that has gotten a bit more attention lately, with improved landing and two medium-hard projects for the taking.
Following the main wall further into the forest to the left come several smaller walls with some great and some less great, often defined problems.

The area is very beginner friendly and relatively kid friendly with a large, even space under the main sector and many easy problems.

A selection of great boulders:
- Kammereck, 6A: great powerful climbing in the corner of the roof
- Wagemutiges Topfengolatschentier, 6A: perhaps the best slab in the Allgäu area?
- Rabbit Hole, 6B: long journey through the little roof and up the arete on perfectly sculpted holds.
- Black Swan, 6C: technical climbing up a black streak into a dusty top out.
- Troubadour, 6C-7A: two ultra powerful moves straight through the roof, morpho.
- Colltex, 6C+-7A: great powerful climbing on slopers, morpho.
- Collette, 7A/+: the original combination along the edge of the roof, morpho.
- Dr. Schöffl, 7B: technical climbing on tiny crimps.
- Triple Zero, 7c+ (E7): A powerful boulder about half way up the arete leads into easier but unprotected climbing on crimps.

History

The main sector was one of the first developed bouldering areas in the region. Climbs on the lower wall were added around 2006-2013 and the smaller sectors to the left were developed around 2012-2014.
