Khao Takiab is a hill south of Hua Hin that is famous for the temple on top as well as the many monkeys that live there. Like most mountains around Hua Hin, it is entirely composed of well-featured Gneiss. The boulders that are developed so far are situated all around Khao Takiab, facing the ocean. The rock here is less sharp than inland and generally a lot less sharp than on Koh Tao. There is still a lot of potential for new development, including a couple harder boulders up to 8B or so.
Being situated at the sea, the area offers beautiful scenery and a fresh breeze, but it is also influenced by the tides. You will find that the sea is higher at the beginning of the cold season (Nov-Feb) and several boulders are underwater. During the hot season (Mar-Jun), on the other hand, those boulders are dry and climbable, but it might be too hot to do so. The wet season (Jul-Oct) on the other hand is often unpredictable, and conditions can range from wet to hot to ok.
You will see the occasional monkey and stray dog when bouldering here. This is generally not an issue, but especially at The Harbour sector, hordes of monkeys can pose a problem. Make sure to keep your food covered and your gear and personal items close to you, or they might get stolen by a curious macaque.
