Lavini di Marco

You have just landed on one of the largest boulder areas of Trentino Alto Adige: Lavini di Marco!
This area is the twin of the famous Marocche di Dro, sharing the same lunar landscape and limestone boulders.
The area is a steep stony ground on the slopes of Mount Zugna, originated by landslides that occurred in prehistoric times. The area extends for over 35 hectares and has an infinite potential for bouldering.
In this topo we collected over 350 lines, with a wide range of difficulties from 5 to 8A. The problems are generally quite crimpy on sharp rock that still has a good friction. There are huge highballs for the most daring climbers and also small boulders for beginners.
Since the area is really rocky, landings may be a bit challenging, so good pads placement is required.
Lavini is a sunny area, allowing you to climb really well during the winter. We say that Summer is quite off limits unless you get a cloudy day.

Lavini di Marco is a biotope, so please respect the area by taking home trash and not ruining the vegetation. Do not miss a visit to the dinosaur footprints that are spreaded around this place!

Lavini di Marco has a long history that starts from the prehistoric era. Hundreds of footprints of carnivorous and herbivorous dinosaurs of different shapes and sizes are imprinted along a steep gully of about two hundred meters at this place. The rocky outcrops can be dated to the beginning of the Jurassic, about 200 million years ago, and their fossil state represents what remains of a large tidal carbonate plain comparable to coasts of the Persian Gulf.
This old area hosts a great boulder area that is frequented by a lot of climbers. Among the local developers we remember Stefano Ghidini and Mario Ruele, who are the most active and passionate.
