The boulders are situated in a natural scenery of exceptional beauty, in the Ligurian Alps. From the sanctuary start many paths to the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri, the Armetta, Dubasso and Galero mountains. In the adjacent meadows aroud the sanctuary you can find pic nic area and it is perfect for relaxing walks for the whole family.
From many panoramic point of view and even from the top of some boulders it is possible to admire the summit of Castell’Ermo, the Ligurian sea in front of Albenga and on clear days you can see the coast of Corsica!
The best season for climbing here is certainly from to october to march, when you can find cold conditions and good grip for tiny crimps, but also a pleasant sun exposure, so you can even take your t-shirt off to make climbing harder possible!
Thanks to its altitude (1015 meters) the area is a good refuge from the heat of the coast and can be possible to find decent conditions even in Summer, but be careful of the vipers! In winter the snow is rare, but in case usually melts rapidly and is not a real issue.
The boulders are spreaded along the road and among peaceful setting in the woods. You can find them very easily. Even if a lot of boulders are near the road, please leave your cars or van in a way that keep the passage always open to others.
In order to describe the rock you can run into small sharped crimps, knobs, roofs, athletic jugs, and a lot of aesthetic highballs.
The rock doesn’t get dirty and tends to stay very clean, but a little check-up of solidity of some holds that look fragile before try really hard is always a good idea.
