Mother Cap and Quarry

The squat square monolith of Mother Cap perched atop the hill is visible for miles around, below this on the walk up from the Surprise view car park can be found the quarry and jutting out from the edge down to the left is Mother's Pet Rock. Some excellent climbing can be found across these mini venues all within 5 min walk of one another. The star line here has got to be Conan the Librarian, not just due to the great name but it encompasses some great moves straight up the face of the quite unique Mother Cap. The other line that really stands out is Death Cap which I'm sure Sheffield's A&E Doctors and nurses are praying doesn't start receiving more attention.
The climbing is easy to access from the car park below and can easily be combined with a trip to Millstone, Secret Garden and/or Over Owler Tor.
The area is very popular with casual walkers and as such the car park can get busy on a sunny weekend, as can the areas around the rocks, not really a venue if you're seeking solitude.
