Climbing has been limited!
Access
Access is sensitive at the moment. The crag is on private land and the owners have changed. Currently, there is an agreement for a trial period (2021), so behave extra nice.
Note: No fires are allowed in this kloof.
How to get there
From the end of Bath Street at the stop sign outside the ‘Montagu Mini Market‘, drive along the Koo Valley Road (R318) for exactly 18 kilometres. At this point, you will see a sign on your left saying Boschrivier – Kobus and Ester van der Merwe. Turn left here onto the dirt track and follow it to some labourer’s cottages. Go past the cottages and continue along quite a rough track (high vehicles advisable), till you get to an obvious fork. Take the right branch and continue for a little way to reach a clearing where you park (2 kilometres from the road).
Approach
From the left of the parking area, follow the path (crossing over a fence) for about 10 minutes to reach a semi- clearing (old campsite), with an old fireplace and some biggish boulders. You are now directly below the Le Pique-nique Sector up on your right and Wildcard Buttress up on your left. See more detailed approach information under individual sections. Times given are from the old campsite.
For Seamster Wall, follow the path as for Mischief Slot, then cut across the slope to gain the wall. For the routes on the Wildcard side (left) of the valley go up the scree on your left and continue to the various crags. For Snark Buttress, Cuts Both Ways, Cowboy area and Tower of Babel, keep on straight.
