Description

Passo Pramollo-Nassfeld has an incredibly varied geology⛰️, there is rough limestone in the woods, polished limestone in the river, three types of polished conglomerate, ferrous rocks, and a strange kind of conglomerate where the rocks are big quarz crystals and granite. This big variety lends itself to a similar variety in climbing 🧗styles: from steep overhangs on sharp crimps, to gently overhung lines on slopey rails, to vertical blocs on delicate and slick feet to intricate slabs on scarsely featured rock; and all of this includes a big grade range from 4+ warmups to 8C megalines that are awaiting an ascent.
The blocs are spread across the full lenght of the valley and offer lots of different sceneries, from the high altitude beech🌳forests down to the mellow and relaxing final section of the "fiume basso"🏞️sector where beautiful pools of water can be found (and in the summer swam 🏊 in, 100% recommend!).

All around high quality boulders, even if a bit spread out, that you wouldn't expect to find in northern Friuli where the rock seems to only be good for sport climbing.
A gem💎

History

The first bloc (Bombaso) was found by some austrian climbers years ago, but they never explored the lower part of the valley where almost all of the lines are. In early 2023 i went to repeat "Bombaso" and on the way up the valley i saw lots of boulders in the river. After having done all of the lines on Bombaso i started cleaning and F.A.ing lines all over the valley. Finally after looking around for a few years i found what has now become the first true, high quality bouldering area of Friuli. There are still quite a few lines to be found, cleaned and climbed but also lots of projects up to the V14-V15 range for those keen on that kind of developing.
