Description

Rigor Mortis is the most central area of Östersund, it also host the shortest approach in Jämtland (less than 10 seconds).

The cliff Is mainly vertical and houses mostly routes from 6b-7a+ even if it hosts some easier and harder routes. Rigor Mortis faces east and that makes the sun hit it late morning. The area in front of the cliff is very open so the cliff dries up fast after rain. Locals usually look at the asphalt in Östersund and if its dry so is Rigor.
The rock type is porphyry, which means it’s generally skin friendly despite a bit blocky and sharp edged holds. Some people think the rock is very slippery but don’t be discouraged, try again maybe you will find something else which has friction or embrace the slip.

The rock is quite loose at some places so wearing a helmet is highly recommended and some lines might not even be suitable for climbing until they have been thoroughly cleaned. Look in description and comments for “Mycket lös”=very loose routes with “lite lös”= a bit loose should be climbed with caution. The crag is located atop a mountain room and at times the owners of the room has made work on the rock to improve its integrity, so some lines have metal rods and some cracks has been filled in with cement. The cement has affected a few routes and they might be harder than before and not repeated since.
