Description

Sarikaya, meaning yellow rock, is a little village at the backdrop of a large rock range. At 20 minutes from Izmir, 15 minutes from Manisa, and close to the highway it is easily reachable.

The rock is made up by good quality limestone, mostly solid rock but of course always beware of loose rocks while climbing. Routes vary from grade 4 to 8C and some open projects. All sectors are very securely bolted, bolts are never too far apart. There is lots of potential for more routes.

Some sectors like Arat and Anabant are in full sun and catch much wind. Inside the Kanyon it's windstil, shady and some routes on the right are even protected from rain. There's really something for everybody at every time of the year.

Note that phone signal becomes very weak when approaching this crag.

Paper guidebook can be bought in "Mekanik climbing" in Izmir.

History

Most of the routes were set in 2012, 2013 by Akyutun Zorbey. Throughout the years more routes were added.
