The Schellneck area offers Altmühltal climbing at it's best. Especially the Schellneckwand has beautiful routes up a 50 meter, compact wall. The climbing is very technical and not easy to read. Also some routes have longer distances between the bolts. These factors might be the reason why climbing there is not that popular anymore. On the other hand, it is not very crowded and after getting involved into the climbing, the wall offers a broad spectrum of excellent routes.
Kiefernzapfen is a small little crag deep in the forest. There are rarely visitors even though, there are some nice routes on compact rock.
Important to know:
For the Schellneckwand and the Schellneckpfeiler climbing is banned because of bird brood from the first of February until the first of July. Please respect the nature. The whole area is in a nature reserve!
