Description

This topo collects the two crags at the gates of the capital of Trentino Alto-Adige, Trento: La Vela and Schizzolandia.

La Vela:
La Vela is one of the best sport crag for the local climbers of Trento. The short and easy approach, the super comfortable crag base and the huge amount of routes, make La Vela the perfect choice if you want to spend few hours climbing and visit the beautiful city of Trento.
The climbing style is mainly technical on long vertical walls with crimpers and small pockets, but there are also some overhanging sections. The lines of sector A are probably the most interesting.
There routes are over 100 from 5b to 8a, but most of them are around the sixth grade.
The equipment is generally good and maintenance is carried out regularly. Remember to wear the helmet during particularly windy days.

The crag area is very comfortable, nice and offers a view on the plain of Trento. If you are confident with the medium/high difficulties, come here to enjoy the beautiful routes and try to push your limits with harder ones!

Schizzolandia:
Schizzolandia is a new small crag close to the more famous La Vela. It offers almost 20 interesting routes on vertical and overhanging walls. The difficulties go from 6a to 7c+ and there are some projects. The equipment and the crag base are good.

History

La Vela:
La Vela is an historical crag discovered by the climbers of Trento in the 40s/50s. The first sport routes were born in the 80s. Sector C is the newest, bolted in 2013. The equippers of La Vela are many. We can remember Lino Celva, C. Casagranda, A. Zanetti, F. Bertoni, A. Gessini, N. Dalla Torre and Drunken Climbers team.

Schizzolandia:
The crag was bolted quite recently by Andrea Gessini, called “Schizzo” by his friends.
