The perfect summer crag. The walls are facing north-west, and the first sun hits the crag around 4 p.m. Many routes remain in the shade all day due to the many corners. Skälefjäll is one of the bigger crags in Bohuslän and hosts high-quality routes and consists mainly of arêtes end dihedrals. Sometimes it can feel a little damp around the bottom of the crag, but the routes dry surprisingly quick after rain.
Skälefjäll has seen development over a long period of time. One of the most interesting things is the story of the route 'Electric Avenue' that was originally bolted and climbed by Henrik Bolander 1997. This route is for sure one of the masterpieces of Bohuslän. Years later Erik Heyman climbed it placing gear and 2011 Martin Skaar Olslund removed the bolts and did it in the same style. After some debate, the climbing community decided to keep it in its new appearance.
In 2013 a company wanted to start a new quarry in direct connection to the crag. This would have affected the climbing at Skälefjäll in very bad ways. After protest from people living in the area together with local climbers the application for starting the quarry was rejected.

Follow the path starting opposite the entrance through the forest to the crag.
