Description

Solvalla cliff is situated beside the road to Nuuksio national park. The place is very popular due to easy accessibility and grade range suitable for most climbers.

The cliff directs to south-west and has very open front so it dries incredibly fast after rain. It can also get quite hot during sunny summer days. The rock is coarse, finger tearing granit. Be aware that despite the fact that most routes are bolted, some routes miss anchors. Fixing of a top rope or belaying point to tree is the only option in some cases.

History

Solvalla crag is one the oldest crags in capital region. There has been climbing activity since eighties.

Most of the routes date back to the times of Persian Gulf War between Iraqi Army and the USA in the early 1990's. Thus, the naming of the most difficult routes.

Use the parking lay-by's beside the road in front of the cliff. Cars should be strictly on the layby, no overlapping to the road. In case the layby is full, use the parking area of Solvalla institute further along the same road.
