No special access issues
Stanage North lies within the Peak District National Park and, as such, is subject to certain rules and regulations. Wild camping and the lighting of fires in non-designated areas is prohibited.
Approach
Two alternative approaches are possible:
1) There is limited parking in grassy lay-bys next to a metal gate at Moscar Top (P1 - don’t block the gate!) on the A57 “Snake Pass” road, approximately 100m west of a large signpost marking the city limits of Sheffield. Climb over a stile next to the metal gate and follow the obvious track, which quickly joins another path (the start of this is 50m up the road from the parking area). Follow the path, often boggy after wet weather, for approximately 1km to reach the first group of buttresses, End Slab to the Problem Corner Area (15 minutes from P1). The second group of buttresses, Marble Wall Area to Crow Chin, lies some 600m further south and is best approached using the cliff-top path (20-25 minutes from P1).
2) The second method of approach follows the 'Stanage - High Neb' path to begin with:
Park at the Dennis Knoll parking area. From the car park follow a major track known as “The Causeway” gently uphill towards the edge. After approximately 500m climb the second stile on the left and follow a narrow but well-marked footpath up and left, joining with another (horizontal) path after about 400m. The 'Stanage High Neb' area now lies directly in front, slightly further up the hillside. For Stanage North, turn left on the horizontal path and follow this for approximately 700m until Crow Chin is visible on the right (25 minutes from Dennis Knoll P). The Marble Wall Area is situated a few minutes further on, and Problem Corner Area / End Slab a bit further still.
