Steinberg Engelberg -Titlis

In Wintertime the two famous backcountry runs Steinberg and Gross Sulz merge below the Steinberg glacier. Most boulders are covered by the large snow amounts this face gets in winter. In summer it’s a cool and excellent place for various bouldering. The development just started and there is a potential for quite more. The rock is sometimes sharp and seems to be quartzite or quartz sandstone (I have to leave that to the specialists). The best season is from July till October.

Local mountain guides opened some excellent bolted routes on the biggest boulder on place. They also did some bouldering around, but there were probably some activities before. At least Swiss climbing and bouldering legend Richi Signer touched the rock here decades ago as almost everywhere in Switzerland.
