Chi sente pronunciare "Monte Bianco" pensa solitamente alle vie classiche di alpinismo, alle grandi imprese di Walter Bonatti, ma anche il bouldering dice la sua!
L'area boulder si sviluppa in Val Ferret, vallata alpina situata a nord di Courmayeur, proprio sotto Le Grandes Jorasses, famose cime granitiche del massiccio del Monte Bianco. A quota di 1650 metri s.l.m i blocchi sono per la maggior parte immersi nel bosco in un magnifico ambiente di alta montagna, con facile e breve avvicinamento dal parcheggio. Attualmente sono stati puliti ed aperti 9 massi con linee molto impegnative e tecniche di difficoltà dal 5 al 8 grado , ma si stanno sviluppando altre due zone nuove con altrettante interessanti linee. Il periodo migliore per arrampicare in Val Ferret va da Giugno a Ottobre/Novembre, a seconda dell’inizio delle nevicate, dopo le quali la strada principale viene chiusa per la sua conversione in pista da sci di fondo.

Whoever hears "Mont Blanc" usually thinks of the classic mountaineering routes, the great feats of Walter Bonatti, but bouldering also has its say!
The bouldering area develops in Val Ferret, an alpine valley located north of Courmayeur, just below Le Grandes Jorasses, famous granite peaks of the Mont Blanc massif. At an altitude of 1650 meters above sea level, the blocks are for the most part immersed in the woods in a magnificent high mountain environment, with an easy and short approach from the parking lot. Currently 9 boulders with very demanding lines and techniques of difficulty from 5 to 8 degree have been cleaned and opened, but two other new areas are being developed with as many interesting lines. The best time to climb in Val Ferret is from June to October / November, depending on the onset of snow, after which the main road is closed for its conversion into a cross-country ski track.

“L’area boulder della Val Ferret ha cominciato a prendere vita intorno agli anni '80/'90, in alcuni massi, quelli più facili c’era già qualche nome segnato con il pennarello sulla roccia" raccontano i fratelli Damiano e Jacopo Capulli e Tommaso Vection, forti boulderisti e apritori dell'area. "Su qualche masso un pò più alto abbiamo trovato degli spit o dei chiodi per garantire una salita con la corda in moulinette, ma la maggior parte dei sassi erano completamente coperti di muschio e molto sporchi, soprattutto nelle parti più difficili e strapiombanti. Nel 2013 Jacopo cominciò a riscoprire la zona, pulendo dapprima qualche linea facile, poi negli anni successivi con l’aiuto di Tommaso, Edoardo e Damiano si è cominciato ad ampliare sempre di più la zona e le linee.
Nel 2019 purtroppo a causa di un incidente qui sul Monte Bianco, una valanga ci ha portato via il nostro amico Edo, ma sicuramente la voglia di continuare a pulire nuove linee e nuovi massi non si è mai fermata, anche perché cosi avrebbe voluto Edo. Speriamo nei prossimi anni di continuare a trovare ed aprire sempre più blocchi e linee di tutte le difficoltà in questa valle stupenda e non solo"
Effettivamente i ragazzi stanno aprendo nuovi blocchi con interessanti linee in nuove zone sempre in Val Ferret che saranno pubblicate qui su 27Crags che sarà in continuo aggiornamento.

"The bouldering area of Val Ferret began to come to life around the '80/'90, in some boulders, the easier ones there were already some names marked with a marker on the rock" tell the brothers Damiano and Jacopo Capulli and Tommaso Vection, strong boulderers and openers of the area. "On some boulders a little higher we found some bolts or pitons to guarantee a climb with the roped rope, but most of the stones were completely covered with moss and very dirty , especially in the most difficult and overhanging parts. In 2013 Jacopo began to rediscover the area, first cleaning some easy lines, then in the following years, with the help of Tommaso, Edoardo and Damiano, the area and the lines began to be expanded more and more.
In 2019, unfortunately, due to an accident here on Mont Blanc, an avalanche took our friend Edo away from us, but surely the desire to continue cleaning new lines and new boulders never stopped, also because Edo would have wanted it so. We hope in the coming years to continue to find and open more and more blocks and lines of all difficulties in this beautiful valley and beyond "
